Reported by The Grand Rapids Press, the two Davids really rocked the house in the latest Idols Live show in Grand Rapids, Mich (Van Andel Arena). Tidbits:

  • "I was so excited...I screamed all night long."
  • 8,300 Idol fanatics in attendance.
  • Carly Smithson covered Heart's "Crazy On You" and the Evanescence song "Bring Me Back to Life."

Ace Young Hits Broadway

As reported by zap2it.com, Season 5 Idolist Ace Young will be added to the cast of Grease (Brooks Atkinson Theatre) as "Kenickie" through Jan. 18, 2009.

Side notes:

  • Taylor Hicks will be leaving the same production cast on Sept 7.
  • Ace has appeared on an episode of the sitcom "Half & Half" and on an episode of FOX's "Bones."
  • Ace has a solo, self-titled album from the Pazzo Music/Fontana label.

Funny! Looks like Sanjaya (as posted in this wire story on ABC) is a new pitchman for Nationwide insurance. Weird!

"Sanjaya Malakar is selling Nationwide Insurance in a new ad that's part of the Columbus, Ohio-based company's campaign, "Life Comes at You Fast.""

Archuleta Debut Tops Cook's

In this story posted on Yahoo News, it appears little Archie is sellin' more than Mr. Cook.

The 17-year-old Archuleta's "Crush" has debuted at No. 2 on the Hot 100 singles chart, besting the No. 3 opening of Cook's "The Time of My Life" in June.
Archuleta is the first runner-up to outperform the reigning champ since the head-to-head matchup between Clay Aiken's "This Is the Night" and season-two victor Ruben Studdard's "Flying Without Wings."
